I grabbed this ARC read from book sirens and it was a cute young adult quick read the story grabbed my attention early on when I had only planned to read a few chapters and ended up reading 10.

Our story starts with Arden (FMC) in Canada with her mother for her older sisters wedding... only her sister is only a few years older than her and at 21 years old she can't believe that it's a great idea to get married so young look how well their parents marriage turned out... fighting led to a terrible divorce and now they can't even be in the same area as each other (even to come together to be civil for their daughter's wedding day). 

Arden finds herself having to occupy her dad's time alone with his new wife so that he won't get too close to her sister (who hasn't forgiven him for "moving on" so quickly) and their mother who they know will just argue with him the moment she is in his vicinity.  Another problem has come up since Arden is the maid of honor and in charge of giving a speech when her sister knows she has a fear of public speaking instead of preparing ahead of time she decides to wing it... nothing could possibly go wrong with that right?  She'll just say stuff she doesn't believe about how love is the best and they will be together forever stuff like that.

Seeing how nervous Arden is Shep (MMC and the grooms younger brother) takes her aside and gives her a bit of a pep talk during that time she snuck some wine... liquid courage and all that.  Thinking that the wine will help her give her speech she still doesn't use this time to think of what to say so when the moment arrives she gives a terrible speech basically telling how she really feels about the whole idea of forever love and marriage, her mom snags her shortly after this and they return to their hotel.

Next morning Arden is still mortified about how things played out for the speech the night before and goes to her sisters room (she is staying in the same hotel separate from her groom to be in preparation for the wedding) only her sister Laurel is no where to be found her room is cleared out minus a letter, her wedding dress and the wedding shoes... and it gets worse when Arden reads the letter her sister left for her fiancé along with the engagement ring she can't help but feel responsible for her sisters sudden cold feet she was "All In" yesterday now she is breaking up in a letter she has to fix this today.

While trying to figure out what to do and attempting to call her sister multiple times with no answer someone knocks at the door... no one can know her sister has left if she can talk to her and tell her how sorry she is before the wedding maybe it will still be on and no one even has to know about this.  Shep happens to be the person at the door with a gift from the groom, he quickly notices the absent bride and she enlists him to help her search for her sister so she can make things right.

From here the story turns into a bit of a cat & mouse situation where she is keeping the news of her sisters disappearance secret (especially from the groom) and they search all of her favorite places all over the city... all the while trying to not let her mother in on this news she will cause a real panic.  Throughout their adventure they enlist the help of a few other people to keep an eye out for Laurel and try to keep their mom and especially the groom from finding out the truth.

There is a lot of inner monologue about how she is starting to like Shep more but of course there are obvious barriers he is about to be her sister's brother in law, he lives in Canada and she lives in California.  Would a long distance situation even work out?  Does he even like her like that they did just meet the day before.  

I enjoyed this book over all, I did kind of feel it was unrealistic that they could go to all of the places they did in the amount of time they had (part of a day).  Then there is the question of if they do find her sister will her sister change her mind?  Is the wedding still going to be happening and if it doesn't will Shep and his family want to have anything to do with Arden if the wedding doesn't happen?  

Cute & Sweet Young adult romance, no spice age appropriate.  Shep is the perfect teen heart throb and even helps Arden a bit with her fear of public speaking along the way.

Adele (FMC) is at her cousin's destination wedding where she has trying to make everything run smoothly... unfortunately the same can't be said for her personal life her fiancé Ben just wants different things out of life he keeps pressuring her to set a date and he wants kids... she doesn't maybe she should have ended things with him before it got this far but he's been acting weird too super clingy she finally just decides to tell him how she's feeling... which leads to the wedding being called off and the end to their relationship.  

In comes Lincoln (MMC) he is a NHL superstar he's hot (and he knows it) he's super confident and he is all about fun avoiding any signs of commitment like the plague... he finds himself in an odd situation when he goes to find Adele and hears most (or maybe all) of the conversation leading to her break up with an old friend of his... not really knowing how to help he manages to tell her she could stay with him in his room since she now can't go back to her own room.

Inviting Adele to his room may just be the worst decision he could make tonight... but they are adults and can just have a pillow wall in the bed... waking up the next morning pillow wall gone and a bad hangover leading to even worse decisions... they realize that more than sleeping occurred but agree to not talk about it. 

Lincoln is a heartthrob and his personal love life has been busy even if it has just been a rotating door of fun flings... but now he finds himself in the middle of a scandal that could potentially ruin his whole career and what happened definitely not "family friendly" which the team he is on likes to have their team reflect at all times even off the ice.  He's in a panic he hasn't been resigned and he could be traded to any other team... if another team is willing to take him now that he is a liability for bad publicity. 

In comes the idea that he could help his bad reputation by appearing to settle down with a "wholesome" girl, he doesn't do relationships... or dating... his team mates and his fans know that so why is he all of a sudden more on board with the idea when the suggestion of Adele being his temporary "girlfriend" thrown around.   

Adele at first against the idea learns that just maybe her ex is already dating (a co-worker)... wow he moved on really quick.. maybe pretending to date Lincoln won't be the worst thing it doesn't have to mean anything and real feelings don't need to get involved... obviously what happened at the wedding can't happen again... or can it?  I mean they can't officially see anyone else while they are "together" what's the harm in some fun?

Lincoln continues to worry about what will happen with his position on the team and it doesn't help that he is being bullied by a member of the management team this guy just won't let up what is he going to do?  Adele becomes his go to person for comfort and the longer they are together he wonders how he will ever be able to let her go.

Obviously spending more and more time together leads to real feelings on both sides but can they admit it to each other?  Adele did break up with her last partner because he wanted her to set a date and move for him away from her family what if Lincoln gets traded to a different team outside of the country... he can't expect her to pack up her life and move with him and he would never ask her to.  

Sparks fly on and off the ice in this cute hockey romance.  If you are in your Hockey Era add this one to your TBR.  

I enjoyed the interactions with the side characters FMC works with her family's business and her cousin is married to Lincoln's best friend and team mate.  Lincoln also has an adorable dog that ends up becoming a social media sensation with his love of the ice and chasing pucks.  

It took me a bit to get into this book but once I got into it I was hooked the lead characters were people you want to root for and see have a happy ending.  I'm looking forward to the next in the series.  Thank you so much to the author for letting me be part of your ARC team and I hope to be considered for the next round as well!

Mollie (our FMC) returns to the small town of Hartsville Texas for one reason she wants to collect her inheritance and sell the ranch her father owned.  While she's sad about her father passing away she hadn't had a good relationship with him she barely knew him he continued to support her financially but she would have liked his presence in her life more than anything else there was a certain point in her life where she gave up the hope that he would actually show up for her... but she is now living with the regrets she has of the thoughts she always had that they had time to mend their broken relationship... now he's gone and she will never get that opportunity to mend that bridge.

Mollie shows up at her father's lawyer's office to discuss the terms only to find that she is being seated with the infuriating foreman for the ranch and former childhood neighbor Cash Rivers... she's just going to avoid noticing how handsome he is it won't do any good for this meeting to go sideways like that.  Cash shows up to the reading of the will expecting to hear that he has been given the ranch like Garrett (Mollie's dad) promised him, thing is he never changed his will it all goes to Mollie his daughter a true city girl... judging from her shiny outfit he doubts she's done a hard day labor a day in her life how is she going to last a week... even a day under the requirements of the will in order to receive her full inheritance she must actively live on the ranch and manage it for a year she might as well head back to Dallas now.

Mollie is beside herself she had been really hoping for that money to come through when she needed it the most she has been working to build up her designer boot company with her bestie and they need funds to pay the vendors for the materials needed to launch their new line if they don't get the money soon they might just have to give up on their dreams... but there is one good thing she will get a monthly allowance starting when she moves onto the Ranch property... she can do this she needs to keep her dreams alive.  Meanwhile her mom (who always has trash talked her dad to her) is getting her lawyers to find a way out of the clause to have to live there for a year... hopefully they come through for her now.  

Cash is grumpy he doesn't want Mollie on the ranch and makes it well known that she isn't welcome there... at first, everyone else including all of his brothers are welcoming and make her feel like part of a big family... she should fire Cash now that would teach him a lesson... except she quickly realizes how vital he is to the running of her new ranch and until she learns what she's doing that would be the worst possible business move ever... she can tolerate him for a bit right?  

The more time Mollie and Cash spend together the more that line between love and hate fades... was it ever truly hate?  maybe it was mild dislike.  Either way tension is high until it snaps and  Cash begins teaching Mollie all kinds of lessons of ranch life... all over the property.  

What everyone is wondering what will happen if the lawyers find a way for her to get out of the clause tying her to the Ranch?  she is beginning to like Ranch living and love all the people on it... including the grumpy, handsome foreman.  Could she sell the place and risk all of these wonderful people losing their jobs?  Her life is in Dallas... but her heart is now split between two places.

Thoughts on the book may contain spoilers: 

It took me a bit to warm up to Mollie she came off at the beginning as kind of spoiled I get that she needed funding for her work project but I was kind of upset with her business partner too that she was pressuring her about the money... like what are you doing to get more income for the line?  was Wheeler doing anything to get money for the new line or was she just waiting for Mollie's inheritance to come through?  

I understand that she had a poor relationship with her father but felt she took the clause poorly, that is part of his will and I think that it was a good plan to have his heir learn how to run the ranch for a year... how is she going to make proper decisions for the ranch if she doesn't know anything about it?  

Mollie's mom was pretty toxic she was talking badly about Mollie's dad to her even after he passed away and she also was food/fat shaming her when they went to eat... just because you only want to eat 2 pieces of lettuce and a cucumber slice lady doesn't mean that Mollie shouldn't be able to eat the burger she wants. Mollie's mom also didn't invite anyone that her ex-husband would have wanted to be there to his own funeral (his ranch family were not invited) but she told Mollie that she invited people they just didn't show up.  Because of her bad relationship with Mollie's father her mom has since sworn off cowboys as they are all bad news.    

Mollie had some kind of nausea/stomach upset issue but it never really was resolved what is going on there?  she said she was feeling better on the ranch eating whatever was it to do with the pressure of eating with her mom?  

Cash has some irritating things as well he was automatically judging Mollie as being a spoiled rich girl without even getting to know her... throughout the book Mollie shows up and helps around the ranch working hard to learn day to day jobs on the Ranch and she's nice to everyone but he still spent the beginning part of the story thinking of her as stuck up and being surprised that she was working so hard.

Felt the pacing was a bit weird at times like they spent over half of the book being kind of frenemies and Mollie even invites her friend with benefits to the ranch.  Then all of a sudden Cash gets jealous decides to stake his claim on Mollie and then is all over Mollie like before they even leave the bar he ends up spicing it up with her in the ladies bathroom... then they have unprotected sex 9000 times and are in love in a matter of a month or two.  

I did like the hallmark movie like qualities--> Big City girl with dreams of being a fashion boot designer has to go to her home town in the middle of nowhere told she has to stay there for the foreseeable future (at least a year) and her hot cowboy nemesis shows her that ranch life isn't that bad... and just maybe she is more of a country girl than she originally thought especially now that she has one or more reasons to stay.  But will her mom ever be ok with her loving ranch life and a cowboy?

The author of this book reached out to me and asked if I would be willing to ARC read for her, I was so happy that she found me this book had all the makings of a perfect Rom Com movie complete with the stuck with your enemy in a forced proximity kind of way add to it 2 bickering families coming together in Scotland to get married and a funny bar keep named Murdo yes please!  sign me right up 💗

Rayann Wilder works with her sisters to keep her family business of planning ritzy destination events go off without a hitch her oldest sister is no-nonsense and has assigned her to make sure that all the pre-wedding events in the Scottish Highlands go according to plan.  Thing is that the couple getting married are from opposing families with a long history of animosity (think Romeo + Juliet or Hatfield and McCoy) oh and Rayann you need to go with the infuriating but sexy ex-military security chief Max Harrington he schedules everything to the second where our FMC is more go with the flow and while organized is also has a little bit of chaos in the mix... yea what could possibly go wrong?

Arriving at the picturesque location in Scotland they have separate rooms far away from each other even better but that quickly goes downhill when the plumbing in Rayann's suite creates a flood and with no other rooms available at the Inn she is stuck asking Max for a little favor, can she stay in his room?  Max ever the gentleman lets her stay with him and even though they argue their chemistry and banter is off the charts hot.

Both being competitive in nature they can't help egging each other on even ending up competing with the family for their highland games, dancing like they know all the steps and finding ways to sneak off whether it's an old library or a broom closet which surprisingly (not!) isn't all that sound proof they go from not being able to stand being in the same room with each other to not being able to keep their hands off of each other pretty quick.  

Towards the end of their time together they both begin to wonder what comes next?  Will they be able to still work together and have a relationship or is this just a wild fling during the trip of a life time?  When Max gets some news that will change a lot in his life can he convince Rayann that she is more than just a fling for him or will she run the other way?  

This story begins a bit as expected in an enemies to lovers destination work trip situation (did we know something would happen to lead them to have to be in one suite... yes!  our couple needs that push) but it's exactly what we all want and love in a romantic comedy lets face it we love the tension building between our couple that keeps us turning the pages sometimes yelling out "just kiss already."  The lead couple are quirky in all the right ways that have you rooting for them to get together and find their happily ever after.
