Book 1 of 5 The Five Deadly Sins
Jordan and Odessa find themselves in the odd position of both being manipulated by Odessa's loan shark father. Odessa is tired of having a bunch of impoverished lords after her for only the large dowry her father is waving in front of them she wants more say in her life and who she weds and goes to great lengths to get rid of her suitors by using her odd knowledge, dressing the part and behaving inappropriately this has worked on every other candidate but Jordan is different.
After the previous earl (Jordan's father) passes away the title goes to his oldest son from his first marriage who is every bit the evil step brother along with him comes his evil aunt and her unpleasant family. Jordan, his mother and his younger siblings get thrown out of their home and banished to the far north of England to a dilapidated estate with no help and in desperate need of repair (they are told at their father's funeral). Over the years they become used to hardship and self reliance.
Many years later the evil brother has led an over indulgent life (betting poorly on horses, buying luxuries he can’t afford, housing two mistresses) while sending them very little to help pay for anything his brother is now dead and all of his markers have been bought by a loan shark who has made the deal with the former Earl to allow all the debt to be resolved as long as he weds his daughter… same is ok for the next earl he wants the title for his daughter so the deal still stands with Jordan.
Jordan wants what is best for his family even though he doesn't want to wed an undesirable woman to help pay for his elder awful brother's debt he will do what he must for the good of his family maybe he could just leave her in London and return to the country after the wedding... or maybe she isn't as bad as he originally thought. Odessa continues to try to frighten away this new lord who has been going out of his way to court her properly but maybe she should stop trying to trick Jordan he is handsome after all and nothing like the previous self-centered and pompous lords that her father has thrown her way and her tell it like it is aunt adores him could he actually be the one?

While there were elements to the ridiculous in this story I really enjoyed it overall and plan to read the full series.
Have you read this book or any other's in this series? Have you read anything else by this author? if you have which of her books do you recommend?
