I requested this due to my love for Hockey Romance books. This is a different take on the usual Hockey Romance books I have read (which generally focuses on one couple a book) This book was a quick paced story switching scenes regularly to show many different characters and how their lives intertwine, kind of like a movie.
The New York Raiders send Princeton to their farm league in New Hampshire the Bumbard Bears where he stays at a motel and meets the beautiful house keepers Candy and Paloma, while Candy shows interest in him he only has eyes for Paloma she is from El Salvador and stays at the motel in one room where she lives with her family it's a tight fit but she is a hard worker.
Princeton spends a short time with the farm league then is brought back to the big league when some injuries occur only to find himself back on the bus to the Bumbard Bears shortly after along with Nikolai the Russian goalie with an obnoxious fiancé, and no pass Bobby an 18 year old kid who has a lot of growing up to do before he can reach his full potential.
The book is fast paced and swaps scenes quickly along the way we meet many other characters:
- the hotel manager Marvin who is up to shady shenanigans with how he lets Paloma's family stay there.
- Elizabeth (Princeton's ex) who now has her eyes set on the hot broody goalie
- Belinda who likes to throw herself at the hockey players (puck bunny?)
- Katya the Fiancé
- and of course some of their new team mates
The guys get up to shenanigans together while banished from the main team like pranking their coach, having fun with the ladies in the hot tub and having more fun in the bedroom as they start to pair off. But the guys still have a job to do they can't stay in the middle of nowhere on the farm team forever... they need to get back to the big leagues asap! Also how can Nikolai get rid of his fiancé?
While the book is a quick read with some humor I think it would have been a better story if we got to know a smaller amount of characters better, the book swapped around between 3 main couples and so many side characters also adding on ice hockey play leaving to a feeling of the story being rushed only getting to know each character briefly and only at a surface level.
This book reminded me of a lot of the old crime books that my husband reads (just with the writing style) but due to that style of writing this book might be a good one for men interested in reading a romance novel it had enough action to be interesting between spice and ice brawls even a fight between a few of the ladies at one point...anyways guys if you see this and are interested in a romance read this one might be for you.
*Hockey Romance *ARC read *Humor *focuses on multiple couples *some spice
